New Basketball Program at B&G Club!

Hello
I am excited to announce the Boys & Girls Club will be starting a brand new travel basketball program.  We will be putting teams together to compete in the upcoming fall league at the YMCA.  The teams will practice at the Boys & Girls Club during the week and compete in games on Fridays and/or Saturdays.  The fall league begins in September and runs through November.  I will also be looking for tournaments around the valley to enter in.
I would like to extend an invitation to any current 6th, 7th, or 8th grade girl interested in playing.  We are having practice tomorrow night from 6:00-7:15 PM at the Boys & Girls Club.  Also, we are having a parent meeting following the practice to discuss the new program.
If you are interested in becoming apart of this brand new program please attend tomorrow night’s practice/meeting.  If you are unable to attend but are interested in playing please contact me.
Any questions please contact me.
Thanks,
Boys & Girls Club Basketball:  better than ever

Hawks Coaches for the Fall

Bobby Langer – Will manage one game per weekend per team (league schedule permitting), organize Wednesday practice and attend all 6 weekly indoor hitting sessions.
Wes Loyet and Dave Petric – Bronco managers (11-12 yo)
Nick Bonnenfant and Steve Jacobs – Mustang managers (9-10 yo)
Rich Barnard – Pitching Coach for program
Courtney Ukens – Catching coach for program
Assistant coaches – Our assistants will be required to teach our system and our system only.  We have 10 pitching steps and 10 hitting steps that any of our coaches can teach.  Outside of those steps, our coaches are instructed to find the speciality coach.
There are many different ways of teaching the game.  We structure our program so the message to the kids is simple and to the point.  We feel we need to be consistent throughout the program in order to produce fundamentally sound players.  Yes, the old K.I.S.S. approach!

Free Tee Ball Group Lessons!

For a limited time, we are offering free tee ball hitting lessons.  Many look at tee ball as simply a fun league for young kids.  It is!  But it is also a very important time in a young hitter’s development.

Hitting coaches spend a tremendous amount of time breaking bad habits as kids get older.  These bad habits are often created from the start by kids not understanding how to properly swing a bat.  Our group lessons will cover the basic swing mechanics.  Classes are based on 1 coach with a maximum of 4 kids.

The proper tee position
The grip
The stance
The load
The stride
The swing

Book your kiddo online today, space is limited.  Choose “Tee Ball Group Hitting” from the drop down on the Book/Schedule page.

New Pitching Coach!

Bare Bones Sports is happy to announce the addition of Rich Barker.  Coach Rich was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1994 after playing one year at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, MA (yes, he likes his chowdah).  He played 6 seasons of MLB for the Cubs and made it to the big leagues for a few games in the 1999 season.

Coach Rich is a resident of Fountain Hills and has been coaching since he left MLB in 2000.  He has coached at the following levels as well as teaching individual and group lessons.

  • Head Jr High Coach Surrey Garden Christian School
  • Head Varsity Coach Surrey Garden Christian School
  • Pitching Coach Salt River High School
  • Little League Coach Minors/Majors
  • Angels Scout Team Coach

Coach Rich is a great addition to our staff.  He is someone who will make an impact on the development of our kids.  As with Coach Mike Heathcott, Bare Bones suggests lessons with Coach Rich for pitchers who have command of the proper pitching mechanics.  He will build on prior lessons and develop your child’s talent.  These children are usually at least 11 years old.  Stay with Coach Rich Barnard until then and keep pounding the basic mechanics.
